Maine Career Development Association
Presenter: Anush Hansen, Kennebunk Counseling
A holistic and wellness-centered approach to career counseling takes many factors into account, including clients’ interests, strengths, personality, and values; family responsibilities and financial needs; self-esteem and self-worth; and their physical, social, and mental health.
As a Certified Career Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor, Anush set out to build a holistic career counseling practice to serve clients in need of career development support, as well as mental health and wellness counseling services. Utilizing a holistic, strengths-based, and narrative approach, Anush found that many of her career counseling clients were struggling with significant challenges including social anxiety, ADHD, depression, perfectionism, guilt and shame, grief and loss, substance misuse, chronic health diagnoses, relationship problems and divorce, parenting struggles, and other life concerns.
In this interactive presentation, Anush will discuss her experiences and the nuts and bolts of building a holistic career counseling private practice, and share what she learned about the personal and mental health challenges clients sometimes face when they want to pivot in their careers.
